Sonic Immersion

This sonic immersion will be a soulful, intimate journey with our most primal and organic musical instrument, the human voice. As a pioneer in the art of harmonic singing (aka: overtone, or throat, singing) and a lifelong student of Hindustani vocal music (raga) as well as being a composer in his own right, Timothy has gone deeply into the interior frontiers of expression. He will accompany himself on tanpura, acoustic guitar, and lyre. To conclude, Timothy will offer a song for two to bring our expansive meditative state into a renewed, grounded awareness.
Participants will be free to recline (savasana pose), sit or stand as needed. Some yoga mats and blankets will be available but please bring whatever materials you need to feel warm and relaxed.
The event will last 60 minutes.

About Timothy
Timothy Hill is a pioneer in the art of harmonic (overtone) singing as it developed in the west. Joining David Hykes and the Harmonic Choir in the late 1970s, he appears on numerous recordings with them, including the seminal Hearing Solar Winds. The New York Times called Hill “A virtuoso of the Tibetan chanting technique.” He also appears on Baird Hersey and Prana’s recording Chiaroscuro with Nexus Percussion, on Brooklyn Raga Massive’s performance of Terry Riley’s In C, and on unique collaborations with composer-accordionist Pauline Oliveros, clarinetist-author David Rothenberg and singer-violinist Iva Bittová. He is also a respected composer, both of songs and of abstract music.
Location
WildHeart is located on 46+ beautiful acres in the Hudson Valley. Retreatants will have the option to stay in a single room, double room, dorm, or camping in either our main retreat center or in private two-bedroom cabins. All options have access to shared kitchens and bathrooms. Daily events will take place in the studio, shared common spaces, and outdoors. Retreatants are welcome to enjoy the lawns, walk in the forest, and swim and boat in the lake during their stay! More info about directions and transportation options HERE.
